Meet Our Team

Jesse Weiss
Jesse WeissExecutive Director
“I grew up just across the border from the Twin Cities in Osceola, WI and have spent a lot of time exploring the north woods of Wisconsin, including Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. I got my start in outdoor ministry during my college years working at a Lutheran camp guiding canoe trips down the St. Croix and Namekagon rivers.

“My wife Kelli and I have been married six years. She is an ordained pastor in the ELCA and has served congregations in Lino Lakes, Hastings, and Muskego, WI. We have a 19-month-old son named Aaron and a 4-year-old yellow lab named Autumn. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Soil and Waste Resources from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point and a Master’s degree from Luther Seminary.

“I’ve been working in outdoor ministry full-time for the past nine years in a variety of positions at a few different Lutheran camps. Most recently I have been serving as Capital Campaign Manager for Lutherdale Bible Camp in southeastern Wisconsin, leading the efforts to raise funds for a $3.5 million building project.”

Hannah Damon
Hannah DamonAssociate Director
Hannah was born on a Saturday in Eagan, Mn. As a child, her career aspirations included being a whale trainer, an elevator button pusher, and a movie costume designer. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2010 where she studied psychology and philosophy. She has always enjoyed connecting with people and solving problems.

Hannah first encountered Amnicon in 2008 when her good friend Brad Damon invited her to visit the summer camp where he was working. Brad and Hannah were married in 2012, and continued returning, volunteering, and working at Amnicon as often as possible. Hannah began full time as a director in 2015. She takes care of bookkeeping, waste water treatment, and scheduling retreats, hermitages, and summer trips.

In her free time, she loves to hike, swim, crochet, cook, garden, and spend time with her wonderful husband.

 Brad Damon
Brad DamonAssociate Director
Brad first came to Amnicon in the summer of 2008 and he keeps coming back. Through Guiding (2008, 2009, 2014), Summer Assistant Directing (2010), and volunteering, Brad has grown closer to the camp community and has grown in his faith. He often refers to Camp Amnicon as his “spiritual home”.

Associate Director since June 2015, Brad gets to hire and train the summer staff, maintain buildings and grounds, write the newsletter, and manage the website, among other things.

In what is left of his free time Brad spends time with his son, embarks on his own wilderness adventures, enjoys strategy games, plays guitar, and performs in live theater productions with Wise Fool Theater in Duluth, MN.
