Course Information:

Wilderness Water Safety Schedule & Details

Skills Trained & Assessed:

  • How to recognize and respond to a water emergency in a wilderness context
  • Understanding risk factors, and how to prevent water emergencies in the wilderness

Course Schedule:

9 am – 5 pm each day, with a break for lunch.

Bring with you:

  • Swimsuit & towel
  • Wool or fleece sweaters, or blankets to stay warm between outdoor swimming sessions
  • Paper & pen for taking notes
Wilderness First Aid Schedule & Details

Skills Trained & Assessed:

  • How to recognize and respond to a first aid emergency in a wilderness context
  • How to assess and treat ill or injured patients with limited resources
  • When to initiate a medical evacuation

Course Schedule:

Day 1 runs 8 am – 10 pm

Day 2 runs 8 am – 5 pm

There will be breaks at noon and 5 pm each day for meals.

Bring with you:

  • Paper & pen for taking notes
  • Wrist watch that displays seconds
  • Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. We will be training and doing practice first aid scenarios outdoors no matter what the weather.
  • If possible, it may be helpful for you to bring your personal gear that you would bring on a wilderness trip…Your clothing, extra layers, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad. 
CPR & AED Schedule & Details

A CPR & AED certification may be added on to any of our other certification courses.

Course Schedule:

  • 6 pm – 10 pm

Food & Housing:

Food

Food is provided as part of the course registration fee. Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions. 

If you choose to arrive a day early or stay a day late, meals will not be provided outside of course instruction days. 

Housing

You have the following housing options at Amnicon during the courses:

A Bunk in the Lodge, $25/night

  • Our main lodge features two bunk rooms with a total of 26 beds between them.
  • Bunks are available first-come, first-serve, and may be booked with your course registration

Camp on Site, $0/night

  • Camping allowed in designated areas only.
  • Bring your own tent & camping equipment
  • Inquire with us after registering for a  course if you’re interested in camping on site while you’re here

Private Cabin, $65-$125/night
