Course Information:

Wilderness Water Safety Schedule & Details

Skills Trained & Assessed:

  • How to recognize and respond to a water emergency in a wilderness context
  • Understanding risk factors, and how to prevent water emergencies in the wilderness

Course Schedule:

9 am – 5 pm each day, with a break for lunch.

Bring with you:

  • Swimsuit & towel
  • Wool or fleece sweaters or blankets to stay warm between outdoor swimming sessions
  • Your own food, meals, snacks, beverages
  • Paper & pen for taking notes
Wilderness First Aid Schedule & Details

Skills Trained & Assessed:

  • How to recognize and respond to a first aid emergency in a wilderness context
  • How to assess and treat ill or injured patients with limited resources
  • When to initiate a medical evacuation

Course Schedule:

June 15 runs 8 am – 10 pm

June 16 runs 8 am – 5 pm

There will be breaks at noon and 5 pm each day for meals.

Bring with you:

  • Paper & pen for taking notes
  • Wrist watch that displays seconds
  • Your own food, meals, snacks, beverages
  • Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. We will be training and doing practice first aid scenarios outdoors no matter what the weather. 
  • If possible, it may be helpful if you bring a sleeping pad, a few extra sweaters, and a 1-Liter water bottle
CPR & AED Schedule & Details

A CPR & AED certification may be added on to any of our other certification courses. 

Course Schedule:

  • 6 pm – 10 pm

Bring with You:

  • Your own food, meals, snacks, beverages

Food & Housing:

Food

Food is not provided by Amnicon during any of these training events. 

We will be breaking for meals at noon and 5 each day. Meal breaks will be about an hour long, which is probably not enough time to drive into town for food. Food delivery services do not deliver to our location. Please bring all your own food, meals, snacks, and beverages. 

We provide fridge & freezer space, microwaves, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker, and tea kettle. 

Housing

You have the following housing options at Amnicon during the courses:

A Bunk in the Lodge, $45/night

  • Our main lodge features two bunk rooms with a total of 26 beds between them. 
  • Bunks are available first-come, first-serve, and may be booked with your course registration

Camp on Site, $0/night

  • Camping allowed in designated areas only. 
  • Bring your own tent & camping equipment
  • Inquire with us after registering for a  course if you’re interested in camping on site while you’re here

Private Cabin, $65-$125/night
